Mastering

I do a lot of mastering these days.  This is the final step in the “record-making” process. It involves polishing and preparing your mixes for replication and creating a CD master to send to the manufacturing plant.  This process is very smooth and efficient over the internet.  My flat per-song rate includes:

• FTP upload server space for your mixes
• MP3 or WAV files for approval over internet
• Revisions
• CD Master for replication
• PQ Code sheet
• Error report
• A listening copy for reference
• USPS Priority Mail shipping

It’s a flat rate, so if you have a 10 song CD, it will be $400 total.  There are no extra charges unless you require FedEx rush shipping or additional copies. I work in-the-box which allows me to make revisions very quickly and there is no audio quality loss due to repeated A/D/A conversion. I’ll try to work within your deadlines, but usually turnaround depends on my current workload.

Preparing Your Files
I can accept WAV or AIFF files for mastering.  These should be stereo interleaved files, preferably at 24 bit and 44.1kHz or higher.  Please don’t limit or compress your mixes, and try to make sure there is no clipping or distortion on them.  Leave a little headroom for me to work with.  You can upload your files to my FTP server, use a file transfer website like SendSpace or YouSendIt, or send me a CDR/DVDR through the mail.
